Job Description

The Medical Director will be a hands-on, experienced leader who has strong people management and leadership skills. They will also need to possess organizational management and influence skills to work effectively.

The ideal candidate will have high standards of excellence, high work ethic and can keep up with the pace and growth of the organization. The candidate will need to have a high sense of urgency, intellectual curiosity and the ability to apply such curiosity to solving business problems. Executive presence and effective client relationship skills are required in order to build and maintain positive client relationships. This person will also need to have or exhibit an ability to achieve the technical knowledge to manage and influence existing clients and manage a team of Client Medical Directors.

Key Responsibilities:
Talent Management
· Effectively implements and applies Talent Management processes to select, develop and manage a high performing team

· Adopts and champions our hiring processes to effectively recruit and onboard new team members

· Effectively identifies and develops high performers and takes action on low performers

· Manages resource allocation for client assignments and internal business partners

· Provides mentoring and coaching

· Seeks and applies performance feedback from internal and external customers

· Makes decisions and takes timely action to reallocate assignments or other performance management action resulting in a performance.

Process Improvement
· Determines and implements process improvements to enhance Medical Policy Operations

· Follows and ensures team compliance of change management methods and identifies opportunities to improve the processes and quality of the MD and CPM team

· Measure results effectively

· Supports organizational change efforts for solutions delivered and clearly communicates changes

Other Related Responsibilities
· Provides leadership to support a sales cycle and manage existing business

· Assists with clinical product development and enhancement

· Provides leadership to support the implementation process.

· Supports Reporting and Analytics, Fraud and Abuse, and Implementation Services requiring medical and clinical oversight

Job Requirements

· Ability to work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment with a strong bias for deep analysis, timely action and thorough execution

· Proven success as a manager in a scalable organization that has significant scope, complexity and breadth

· Understanding of and ability to lead and manage in a matrix environment where team work is essential

· Strong personal leadership – in terms of the role of a leader, the impact on the company and creating momentum for culture and accelerating the strategy

· Relationship development skills to forge positive and lasting relationships with key business partners

· Track record in building teams and developing people for success in current and future roles

· Ability to achieve sustainable results through others, including the development and assignment of other MDs and administrative staff as leaders, mentors, trainers, etc…

· Ability to make good decisions that are strategically relevant to the company’s goals and objectives

· Proven management skills with experience in managing a professional staff

· Strong external and internal client relationship management skills

· Strong listening, written and oral communication skills

· Highly organized and able to manage and prioritize many tasks

· Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Minimum Qualifications:

· 10 + years of people management experience (hiring, coaching/development, transitioning)

· MD or DO degree

· MBA (preferred)

· Knowledge of healthcare payers, policy payment and correct coding knowledge (preferred)
